Xie Wenjun ( Chinese  謝 文 駿  /  谢 文 骏 , Pinyin Xiè Wénjùn; born July 11, 1990 in Shanghai ) is a Chinese hurdler who specializes in the 110-meter distance .

Athletic career

Xie Wenjun gained his first international experience at the Summer Universiade 2009 in Belgrade , where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 13.93s. In 2012 he qualified for the first time for the Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 13.34s . The following year he took part in the World Championships in Moscow and was eliminated there with 13.59 s in the lead. In 2014 he reached the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot over 60 m hurdles, came fourth at the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech and won the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea in 13.36 seconds.

In 2015 he won the Asian Championships in Wuhan and thus qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 13.39 s . The following year he reached the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Portland and retired from the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with 13.69 s in the first round . In 2017 he took part again in the World Championships in London and again reached the semi-finals , in which he was eliminated with 13.36 seconds. At the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , he again reached the semifinals and again won the Asian Games in Jakarta in 13.34 s at the end of August . The following year he won the Asian Championships in Doha with a new world annual record and a personal record of 13.21 seconds. So he qualified again for the World Championships , which also took place in Doha, and made it to the finals there , in which he finished fifth in 13.29 s.

In 2008, 2012, 2015 and 2018, Xie became Chinese champion in the 110-meter hurdles. He graduated from Tongji University in Shanghai with a degree in marketing .
