The YUU-Skydive e. V. is an association founded on April 8, 2005 to promote parachuting . The association currently has around 150 members.

The foundation of the association

YUU-Skydive was originally founded in 2002, initially in the form of a civil society , by a group of parachutists. These included the parachutists Yorck Vettereck, Ulrike Vettereck and Ulf Lempfert, who, with the initials of their first names, also gave the club its name.

Purpose of the association

YUU-Skydive e. V. is a registered non-profit association that promotes sport in the form of skydiving. According to the statutes, this is achieved in particular through a professional infrastructure for active licensed jumpers to practice their sport, training and further education for parachutists, youth work and the promotion of young talent, sports promotion for participants in national and international competitions and public relations as advertising for skydiving.

Beginnings

The club building of YUU-Skydive e. V.

At the beginning of the activities, various airfields in Schleswig-Holstein took place , mostly from small, chartered aircraft , such as the Cessna 182 . The Rendsburg-Schachtholm airfield on the Kiel Canal soon became the association's first home. A disused circus tent served as a packing hall while a disused double-decker of BVG as training and administration building was used.

At the end of 2004, the parachutists were offered the no longer used fire station at the former Hungriger Wolf military airfield in Hohenlockstedt near Itzehoe . This previous fire station with a floor area of 600 m² offered sufficient space both as a packing hall and as a club house. The extensive, obstacle-free area on the airfield also provided ideal conditions for parachuting. A single test weekend was enough for the club to finally move to Hohenlockstedt. In the meantime, the association “YUU-Skydive e. V. “was founded and the non-profit status recognized.

The jump place

The year 2005 was the first year on a “real” drop zone . A landing area on the former military airfield and the ex-fire station as a new clubhouse provided the club with the necessary infrastructure. The influx of jumpers from all over northern Germany now also increased. However, the association still did not have its own drop plane. The charter of suitable aircraft for the landfall operation was associated with difficulties.

An adequate drop plane

Cessna Caravan D-FUNK

A cooperation agreement between Prokon from Itzehoe, Air Hamburg and YUU-Skydive agreed to purchase and share a Cessna 208 Caravan Model 675 in November 2006. The aircraft has been operated since 2013 by the Itzehoe / Hungriger Wolf- based aviation company IAS Itzehoer Airservice GmbH .

The German Parachuting Championship 2012

Already at the information and security conference (INSITA) of the German Parachute Sports Association (DFV) on November 14, 2010 in Schweinfurt, the association was awarded the contract for the German championship in skydiving 2012 as part of the delegates' conference More than 200 competitors in 8 different disciplines, over 3300 competition jumps on the "Hungry Wolf" airfield.

The competition was followed even in the USA by the National Skydiving League. Overall, the German championship in skydiving in 2012 caused over 2 hours of TV broadcasting time on broadcasters such as Norddeutscher Rundfunk , RTL and Sat.1 . Editorial articles from nationwide print media such as Focus , Handelsblatt and Die Zeit were published together with many reports from regional newspapers.
