Grömitz marina
The Grömitz marina is a sports boat harbor in Grömitz on the Bay of Lübeck .
history
Three main factors led to the construction of the marina in the 1960s :
- The emerging tourism and the growing number of pleasure boats triggered an increasing demand for berths .
- The newly founded Grömitz sailing club applied for permission to build an unprotected jetty for its boats.
- The Olympic harbor Schilksee has a comparable easterly wind situation and is protected by moles .
As a result, the Grömitz marina was built from 1967 to 1969 in several construction phases. The construction costs were about 5 million German marks and there was space for 500 boats.
From 1990 to 1992 another 7.4 million German marks were invested. The port was extended by two piers, the existing piers were extended and a third sanitary building was built. A redesigned port entrance and moles stabilized with fascines now offer more protection from waves and silting. After the expansion, the Grömitz marina has 780 berths.
With the construction of an adventure promenade along the marina, Grömitz has succeeded in building a bridge between rural holidaymakers and water sports enthusiasts. The promenade was extended by 400 m in 2010 and now leads over the south pier to the harbor entrance.
Furnishing
The Grömitz marina offers 780 berths for boats up to 25 m long and 5 m wide on 12 fixed jetties. The water depth in the port is 2.8 meters. A gantry crane with 18 t WLL and a slipway are available for loading and unloading the boats . Three sanitary buildings, a sewage extraction system , a boat yard , a gas station , various equipment companies and a diverse range of restaurants complete the range of services. The marina has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2001 .
