Yannik Tiemann

Yannik Tiemann (* 1990 in Bielefeld ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).

Live and act

Tiemann grew up in Cologne and learned the piano at the age of nine, before switching to bass at the age of 14 and playing in various jazz combos, for which he also composed. From 2012 to 2015 he studied electric bass and double bass at the Institute for Music of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences with Achim Seifert and Sebastian Gramss , then double bass with Dietmar Fuhr and Jonas Burgwinkel at the Cologne University of Music and Dance . With the bands Der weise Panda (with Simon Seeberger, Maika Küster and Jo Beyer ) and Bodosapiens (with Aaron Seitz , Jo Beyer) he won first place in the Sparda Jazz Award in 2015 and 2016 and made guest appearances at jazz festivals in Germany ( Elbjazz , Burghausen ), also at the Oslo Jazz Festival . With the Simon Below Quartet (with Fabian Dudek , Jan Philipp ) he has been a scholarship holder of the Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation. He also plays with Thimo Niesterok (trumpet) and Simon Bräumer (drums) in the trio Psyches Honigkuchen and in the pop band BJÖRN (with Maika Küster, Maria Trautmann , Manuel Loos).
