Yerko Andrés Kukoc del Carpio (born March 6, 1954 in Potosí , † June 27, 2011 in Miami ) was a Bolivian politician.

Life

Yerko Andrés Kukoc del Carpio's family comes from Croatia . In the Potosí department she exploited the tin mine at Malmisa (4887 m) in the Cordillera de los Frailes .

Yerko Kukoc studied at the Colegio Franciscano de Potosí at the Colegios Alemán and Sagrado Corazón in Sucre . He received a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the Instituto Latinoamericano de Educación (Ilade).

His aunt Modesta del Carpio ran in 1978 for a replacement mandate for Potosí on the list of the Unión Democrática y Popular (UDP). Yerko Andrés Kukoc del Carpio initially had connections with the Acción Democrática Nacionalista (ADN). Later he approached the Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR). He was elected to parliament in 1993, but did not take up his mandate, as he was appointed Prefect of the Potosí Department during the first presidency of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada , from 1993 to 1997 .

In the second presidency of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada , from February to October 17, 2003 he was Minister of the Interior . On October 17, 2003, Masacre de Octubre quelled a riot , killing 64 people and injuring 497. Kukoc was one of 17 defendants against whom legal proceedings relating to the 'octubre negro' began on October 22, 2003. He died of a myocardial infarction .
