Jewhen Ihorowytsch Marussjak ( Ukrainian Євген Ігорович Марусяк ; born March 16, 2000 ) is a Ukrainian ski jumper .

Career

Marussjak, who became Ukrainian champion on the medium hill in Vorokhta for the first time in March 2014 , made his international debut in September 2014 at the FIS Cup jumping competition in Szczyrk, Poland . However, it was not until January 2016 before he was able to win FIS Cup points for the first time in Zakopane . Shortly afterwards he made his debut in the Continental Cup in Bischofshofen , but had no chance. Even at the Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , it was only 49th place. In the months and years that followed, Marussjak competed regularly in the Continental Cup without success. At the Junior World Ski Championships 2017 in Soldier Hollow , he only achieved 56th place, whereas at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2017 in Erzurum, Turkey, he finished 21st.

At the Ukrainian ski jumping championships in February 2018, Marussjak won the championship title on the normal and medium hill as well as with the team. He achieved his first international placement in the top ten in January 2019 in the FIS Cup when he finished eighth from the Wielka Krokiew in Zakopane. At the Junior World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2019 , Marussjak took 52nd place. Marussjak was a participant in the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , but missed qualification for the decisive competition on both the normal and the large hill.

In mid-July 2019, Marussjak started the summer in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan . After he initially competed there in the FIS Cup , he took twelfth place in the first Continental Cup competition. This was his best career result to date. He also got his first Continental Cup points, which means that he is eligible to compete in the Grand Prix and World Cup for two years. At the end of the Summer Continental Cup in Klingenthal , he achieved another respectable success by reaching thirteenth place in tough competition.
