His studies there made him familiar with the areas of screenwriting, directing, camera and production and he worked on his first film projects.

Work as a producer and successful short film debut

From the mid-2000s, Raabe began to work on the production of short films. In 2006 he worked as executive producer on the short film The Last Sheaf by Mariejosephin Schneider . The 20-minute DFFB production focuses on a poor farming family at the beginning of the 20th century. He also produced two DFFB short films by Janosch Orlowsky . Délire de négation (2007) is about a young woman who has lost the love of her life, while Blind (2009) focuses on a former sniper who is embroiled in a dangerous assignment against his will.

In 2010 he made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the short film Between Heaven and Earth . The 15-minute fictional film tells the story of two Ivorian brothers who grew up in a slum in the Ivory Coast and who dare to escape to Germany in an airplane landing gear. Further directorial work on Africa

After Zwischen Himmel und Erde (Between Heaven and Earth) , further directing work in an African context followed, in which Raabe was again responsible for the script and production. According to his own statements, he draws his inspiration from his many travels ("My Vita helps me in the second step when it comes to telling authentic characters and credible Métiers"). He attended the Tisch School of the Arts in New York to improve his scriptwriting work and together with Eric Golub founded his own film production company ViewYork in Berlin, which is divided into the two divisions ViewYork Media ( social media agency ) and ViewYork Film.

Raabe's second directorial work followed in 2013, the 15-minute short documentary Sodom's Children , which is set in Ghana's capital Accra . Borga was premiered as part of the 42nd Max Ophüls Preis film festival , which was organized entirely as an online edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic . There Raabe won the main prize for the best feature film, for the socially relevant film (to associate producer and actor Eugene Boateng), the audience award and the award of the Ecumenical Jury.
