Yorkville Highlands (recognized April 7, 1998) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is in the Mendocino County administrative area . The Yorkville Highlands are located between the already in Sonoma County lying Alexander Valley AVA and lying in Mendocino County Anderson Valley AVA . The Yorkville Highlands floor is rocky and contains a high percentage of gravel, which provides excellent drainage. During the day the temperatures are lower than in the adjacent Alexander Valley but higher than in the Anderson Valley. At night, however, the temperatures are lower than in the neighboring valleys.
