The Alexander Valley is a valley and wine region north of the town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County , California . The valley is home to numerous wineries . The US Highway 101 runs through the Alexander Valley . The vineyards are on both sides of the Russian River .

The Alexander Valley is on the list of the American Viticultural Area and is part of the Wine Country as well as the larger Sonoma County AVA .

The renowned Simi winery maintains 240 hectares of vineyards in the Alexander Valley alone.
