Gerthausen is a district of the municipality Rhönblick in the Rhön in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia .

The village is west of Wohlmuthausen an der Herpf , at the mouth of the Weißbach coming from the left . The country road 2621 leads through the village. The Lochberg (484 m), the Klausberg (523 m), the Kirchberg (489.7 m) and the Ohberg (558 m) lie around Gerthausen.
history
Gerthausen was first mentioned in a document in 874 as Gerratehus . In a major fire in 1844, the village was almost completely reduced to rubble. There used to be three grinding mills with overshot water wheels in the village to grind the grain. The place belonged to the back court in the office Lichtenberg in the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenach and later Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach .
From 1991 to 1996, the formerly independent municipality was part of the Rhönblick administrative community , which on August 1, 1996 was merged with other municipalities in the Rhönblick municipality.
