Wohlmuthausen is a district of the municipality Rhönblick in the Rhön in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen , Thuringia .
location
The street village is east of Gerthausen, immediately north of the Herpf , in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 857. There used to be three mills in the village . The karst mill can be seen today in the open-air museum Kloster Veßra .
The place belonged to the back court in the office Lichtenberg in the Duchy of Saxony-Eisenach and later Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach .
From 1991 to 1996, the formerly independent municipality was part of the Rhönblick administrative community , which on August 1, 1996 was merged with other municipalities in the Rhönblick municipality.

Trivia
In 1986 some of the exterior shots of the DEFA feature film “ Der Hut des Brigadiers ” were shot here and in the vicinity . In the film, Wohlmuthausen was called "Katzsprung".
