Yoshinori Sunahara

Yoshinori Sunahara ( Japanese 砂 原 良 徳 , Sunahara Yoshinori ; born September 13, 1969 in Sapporo , Hokkaidō , Japan ) is a Japanese DJ and producer, known in the Shibuya-kei and chill-out scene. His style is characterized by a mix of funk , bossa nova , Shibuya-kei and 1970s music. In 1995 he released his first solo album Crossover . The albums are distributed in Europe by the German label Bungalow Records .

He loves planes; many of his albums have to do with the subject of flying-airplane-airport. Take Off and Landing from 1998 is about an underground airport, Tokyo Underground Airport. His 1998 album Pan Am - The Sound of '70s is about his favorite airline Pan Am ; He is inspired by the airline's background and advertising music from the 1970s.

Yoshinori Sunahara was part of the three-piece successful Japanese pop techno band Denki Groove , which, in contrast to his solo project, has been producing faster music since 1989.

Together with Yukihiro Takahashi , Keigo Oyamada , Leo Imai, Towa Tei and Tomohiko Gondo, he has formed the Metafive formation since 2014 .
