Youen Cadiou (* 1975 ) is a French jazz and classical musician ( double bass , composition ).

Cadiou studied double bass in Saint-Malo with Elizabeth Allain and Gilles Rivière, then at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Paris ( early music ) under Richard Myron and at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague . He also attended master classes with François Rabbath and Barre Phillips .

Cadiou mainly interprets baroque and classical music on historical instruments, for example in the Ensemble Diderot, Opera Fuoco, La Tempête , with Hillary Metzger, Il Concerto Barocco, Benjamin Allard, Les Cris de Paris, Ma Non Troppo, Bart Naessens, Claroscuro, Les Surprises , Le Temps Suspendu, Orchester du capitole de Toulouse, Chartres Harpsichords, Temperaments, Le Festin d'Alexandre, Sonia Wieder-Atherton and Jean Rondeau . He also plays jazz, for example with Voice Messengers , Antoine Berjeaut , Benjamin Moussay, Ping Machine , Quentin Sirjacq and David S. Ware . Since 2004 he has been regularly in New York City, where he has been engaged in jazz and contemporary creative music ( Kris Davis , Walter Thompson , Christian Pincock, Sam Kulik, Sam Ospovat , Keith Witty, the Brooklyn Soundpainting Ensemble and Michaël Attias ). In the field of contemporary improvised music he is involved in the Amalgammes ensemble around Christophe Mangou, but also in the AUM Grand Ensemble around Julien Pontvianne or in projects by Frantz Loriot .
