Mohammad Younis Khan (born November 29, 1971 ) ( Pashto محمد یونس خان, Urdu : محمد یونس خان) is a former Pakistani cricketer and former captain of the Pakistani national team in all three game formats. He is considered one of the greatest batsmans who played for Pakistan.
National career
Younis Khan began his national career in England in 2005, playing for Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. Khan became the third Asian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh to play for Yorkshire. On his debut for Yorkshire he only got 4 runs. As a player for Nottinghamshire he scored a Century and made for a win against Yorkshire. Younis Khan became the first Yorkshire player to score a Century and a Double Century in the same match. Younis Khan also scored well in bowling, but could not prevent the defeat against Hampshire. As a player for Kent, Younis Khan scored another double century. In 2010, Younis Khan signed a contract with Surrey. In 2008, Younis took part in the IPL for the first and only time.
International career
Younis Khan made his ODI and Test debut against Sri-lanka in 2000 . Younis Khan was able to keep his place on the national team despite a poor performance by Pakistan in the 2003 Cricket World Cup , but lost it after poor performances against Bangladesh and South Africa . Younis Khan's ultimate breakthrough in the team came when he performed well against Sri-Lanka, Australia and India . Younis Khan was one of 15 nominees for ICC Test Player of the Year in 2005. Khan led the 2009 ICC Test Batsman Rankings.
Era as ODI captain
Younis Khan captained his team to a 3-0 in the ODI series against the West Indies . Khan completed his first test as captain in 2005 against the West Indies. Because of these achievements, he was offered the captain's role for the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 , which he refused. He was nevertheless appointed captain by the national PCB association . Younis Khan led Pakistan in its last T20 matches to win the ICC World Twenty20 for the first time in 2009 . In January 2009 he took over the captain's armband in all three forms of play. In October 2009, Younis Khan joined due to allegations of match-fixing back.
Play style
Younis Khan is considered to be one of the best batsman against spin bowling. Its trademark is the flick . Khan is also a very good fielder.
