Youssouf Hersi (born August 20, 1982 in Dire Dawa , Ethiopia ) is a Dutch football player .

Career

society

Hersi went through various youth teams before moving to the youth division at Ajax Amsterdam in 2000 . After a year, the midfielder was appointed to the club's professional squad, where he came to nine missions in the 2001/02 season. In the following year, the young player moved to league competitor NAC Breda . There he came permanently to match practice and was a regular player. After a good season at Breda, he moved to NEC Nijmegen . Here, too, the offensive player prevailed. For the 2003/04 season he scored ten goals in the Eredivisie . His best number of goals so far, in 2005/06 he achieved the same number of hits, in the professional field. Finally, Hersi moved to SC Heerenveen in the summer of 2004 , but only stayed there for half a year before joining Vitesse Arnheim . After two and a half years, FC Twente lured him to Enschede. In 2008 under Fred Rutten and in 2009 under Steve McClaren , the team was twice in a row Dutch runner-up. In addition to 2009, the final of the reach KNVB Cup , which in the penalty shootout was lost to Hersis former club Heerenveen. In doing so, Hersi became the tragic person of the game. Only in the 84th minute came on for Kenneth Perez , he scored the 2-2 equalizer in the 118th minute and then missed the decisive penalty.
In August 2009 he moved to Greece for AEK Athens , in a free exchange with the Finnish international Përparim Hetemaj , who moved to Twente. For the 2010/11 season, Hersi returned to the Netherlands and joined De Graafschap.

National team

In 2001, Hersi took part in the U-20 World Cup with the U-20s of the Netherlands .
