professional

He became a professional in Japan in 1990 under the name "Yuri Ebihara" . On June 23, 1992, in his 13th fight, he became the first Russian to win a world championship among professionals, he defeated the WBC title holder Muangchai Kittikasem from Thailand by knockout in the eighth round.

On the basis of this spectacular knockout, US trade magazines quickly rated him as powerful, even if Kittikasem had already lost prematurely. Oscar Arciniega, whom Arbachakov could only beat on points in a title defense, had also been knocked out several times in earlier fights.

He defended the belt against Hugo Soto (knockout 8) and the undefeated Chatchai Sasakul (point win), who defeated him on points in the rematch on November 12, 1997 and wrested the title from him. Arbachakov then ended his career.
