Yuval Adler , also transcribed Juval Adler ( Hebrew יובל אדלר, * 20th century in Herzliya , Israel ), is an Israeli film director , screenwriter , philosopher , sculptor and photographer who is known for his work on Bethlehem - When the Enemy is Your Best Friend and The Agent is known.

Live and act

Adler was born the son of the writer Malka Adler and the founding member of The Adler Trio Dror Adler. After completing school, he did his military service in drone maintenance with the Israeli Armed Forces and then began studying mathematics at Tel Aviv University in 1990, while studying sculpture at the Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem . After completing his undergraduate studies in mathematics, he enrolled in philosophy at Tel Aviv University, and later did his PhD in philosophy at Columbia University . During his doctorate, he continued his studies in sculpture and photography at Columbia. In addition to several exhibitions in various New York galleries such as Exit Art , he also exhibited his works of art in a solo exhibition in a gallery in SoHo .

In 2006 he published his first cinematic work with the short film Seduction , for which he wrote the script and directed. In 2013, his feature film debut Bethlehem - When the Enemy is Your Best Friend premiered at the Venice Film Festival . The film has won multiple Israeli Ophir Awards and was Israel's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2014 Academy Awards , but received no nominations.

In 2019 he directed the film Die Agentin , an adaptation of the book of the same name by Yiftach Reicher-Atir from his pen.

Adler is married to Aglica Dutcheba from Bulgaria, the couple have two sons and live in New York.
