Yves Dimier (born July 25, 1969 in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne ) is a French sports official and former ski racer . He specialized in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

biography

Dimier first appeared internationally at the Junior World Championships in 1987 in Sälen , but could not achieve any countable results in the following years. It was not until almost six years later, on January 9, 1993, that he won World Cup points for the first time as 21st in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen slalom . In the 1993/94 season he took second place in the slalom classification and third place in the overall classification in the European Cup. His best result of the season in the World Cup was eighth.

In the 1994/95 season Dimier managed to finish third in a World Cup slalom twice: on January 8th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on March 19th at the World Cup final in Bormio . At the beginning of the 1995/96 season , Dimier achieved the best result of his career when he was second in the slalom of the 3-tre race in Madonna di Campiglio on December 19 . This was followed by three more top 10 results, with which he finished 8th in the slalom classification. Dimier was subsequently unable to maintain this level. In the 1996/97 season he did not get beyond a ninth place, in the 1997/98 season he was only able to show a 16th place as the best result. At the end of the 1998/99 season he announced his resignation.

From 2006 Dimier worked for the French Ski Federation as technical director for the alpine sector. In July 2010 he left the association after the new president Michel Vion had cut this post. In October 2010, the Organizing Committee of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi announced that it had signed Dimier as manager for the alpine competitions. In this role he took over the coordination between the Organizing Committee, the Russian Ski Federation and the organizers of the pre-Olympic races.
