Yves Oppenheim

Yves Oppenheim (* 1948 in Tananarive , Madagascar ) is a French painter.

life and work

Yves Oppenheim moved to Paris at the age of 20 and began studying art there. He tried various forms of artistic expression for around ten years before turning to painting again around 1983/84.

Oppenheim prefers large-format, room-filling works that he designs on the computer and that are characterized by the strict, two-dimensional composition of strong color fields. Henri Matisse , Barnett Newman , Frank Stella and Jeremy Moon are among Oppenheim's role models.

Oppenheim lives and works in Paris and since 2001 in Berlin . Since 1988 he has had several solo exhibitions a. a. in Paris, Brussels , New York , Lisbon , Athens , Geneva and Berlin. He is represented by the Max Hetzler Gallery .
