Yvonnick Prené

Yvonnick PRENE (* 19th January 1984 in Paris ) is a French harmonica player of modern jazz .

Live and act

Prené started out as a guitarist, later playing diatonic and then chromatic harmonica. At the age of 17 he began playing the harmonica professionally in the jazz clubs of Paris, before studying musicology at the Sorbonne , where he received his master's degree in 2011. During this time he moved to New York, where he received scholarships from Columbia University and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music . There he studied with Lee Konitz and Reggie Workman, among others . He then played with various musicians such as Romeo Santos , Gene Bertoncini , Vic Juris , Nate Smith , Ira Coleman , Thomas Enhco , Luques Curtis , Laurent Cugny , Gilad Hekselman , Yaron Herman , Laurent de Wilde and Ryan Cohan . Currently (2019) he lives in Manhattan , where he founded the New York Harmonica School . In addition to his Yvonnick Prené Quartet , he led the Padam Swing group ; with his bands he released several albums. He is also the author of numerous books. He can also be heard on albums by Lorin Cohen, Scott Tixier , Marcello Pellitteri and Joonsam.
