ZAS Airline of Egypt was an Egyptian airline based in Cairo that operated both domestic flights and charter flights to Cologne , Frankfurt , Zurich and Paris .

history

After it was founded, the airline initially operated in the freight sector. The first passenger flight took place in November 1982 from London to Cairo , via Amsterdam . Charter flights followed in the passenger sector - initially for pilgrims to Mecca . In 1987 the airline received the license for worldwide charter flights. From Cairo there was a flight to Zurich , among others . Scheduled flights within Egypt started at the end of 1988.

ZAS (Zarkani Air Service) carried 350,000 passengers in 1989.

On 21 October 1995, the ZAS gave in accumulated losses of 660 million $ the insolvency known.
