history

In 1992 charter flights were started from Western Europe to Egypt , as well as scheduled flights to the Middle East region . The Boeing 757s that had been ordered for cargo flights for Kuwait Airways were later canceled due to bad business . Two Airbus A320s were leased to Oasis Airlines and Trans Alsace in the spring of 1994. The machine returned from Oasis and later went to the Turkish Onur Air . The second A320 has since been leased to Albanian Airlines . In October 1999 and November 1999 two more A320s were rented or leased.

Shorouk Air flew subcharter for Air Sinai and Egypt Air. During the Hajj period, a particularly large number of flights were carried out to Jeddah .

In 2003 the airline was dissolved. Losses had reached $ 61 million at the time, and the collaboration was now marked by accusations of economic exploitation and neglected leadership. The chairman of Egypt Air Atef Abdel-Hamid told the press on the occasion of the dissolution that the internal operating costs had already far exceeded the proceeds . The routes were taken over by Air Cairo, which was newly founded at the same time as the dissolution .
