Zdeněk Kutlák (born February 13, 1980 in České Budějovice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who was last under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league until February 2017 .

Career

Zdeněk Kutlák began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HC České Budějovice , for whose professional team he was active in the extra league from 1998 to 2000 . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the eighth round as a total of 237th player by the Boston Bruins . For Boston's farm team Providence Bruins , he played regularly in the American Hockey League from 2000 to 2004 . In parallel, he was occasionally used by the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League , but could not prevail there permanently. He scored one goal and two assists in 16 NHL games. For the 2004/05 season , the defender returned to his Czech homeland, where he received a contract with HC Energie Karlovy Vary . From 2005 to 2007 he played again for his hometown club HC České Budějovice. For the 2007/08 season the Czech from was HC Ambri-Piotta of the Swiss National League A committed. With Ambrì he only succeeded in relegation in his six years there. After he was under contract with HC Slovan Bratislava in the KHL in 2013 , he moved back to Switzerland in November, where he played the season for HC Davos to the end. In the summer of 2014, he moved to neighboring Austria, where he has since been on the ice at EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian ice hockey league and was Austrian champion with the Red Bulls in 2015 and 2016 .

During the 2016/17 season he was sidelined several times due to a back injury and was ultimately deleted from the EC Red Bull squad in February.

International

For the Czech Republic , Kutlák took part in the junior division of the U18 European Junior Championship in 1998 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 . At the U20 World Cup in 2000, he won the gold medal with his country.

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2006 , 2012 and 2013 World Championships and in the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012 Euro Hockey Tour . He won the silver medal at the 2006 World Cup and the bronze medal at the 2012 World Cup.
