The hamlet of Landstreit is a small settlement belonging to the district of Hötzelsroda in the Wartburg town of Eisenach in Thuringia .

location

Landstreit is located about four kilometers north of the core city of Eisenach. A source brook of the Michelsbach provided the incentive to settle this small settlement. The geographic height of the place is 285  m above sea level. NN .

history

The place Landstreit was mentioned in 1330 in the Frankenstein sales letter as "Blankstrut". The estate later passed into the possession of the knight Titzmann Goldacker, who gave it as a gift to the Franciscan monastery of St. Elisabeth (below the Wartburg). They sold the place before 1400 in order to take possession of the castle mill in Eisenach. An Eisenach councilor Pynkernayl (offspring of the Eisenach patrician family Pinkernagel) was mentioned in the record book of the Carthusian monastery when in 1400 he promised the Eisenach monastery interest from the sale of his harvest in the fields of "Blankstryt". In 1498 the Carthusian monks also took over a strip of land from Burkhard von Wolframsdorf. As early as 1352 the place had its own chapel.

The von Reineck family, who lived in Hötzelsroda, acquired property after the secularization of the Eisenach Charterhouse, to which they also included the farms of Blankstrut. It was not until 1853 that the textile manufacturer Walther von Eichel bought the Landstreit farm from the Reinecks. The manor house of the manor, the so-called "castle", was left to the farm workers, next to it a new manor was built, of which outbuildings are still preserved today.

Oddities

With reunification , the territory of the Federal Republic was enlarged. The Erfurt topographer Burkhardt Happ determined the place Landstreit with the "focus method" as the center of Germany .
