Zdzisław Studziński

Zdzisław Studziński (born August 14, 1922 in Łódź , † March 7, 1976 in Gdynia ) was a Polish vice admiral and politician of the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR), who was in command of the Navy of the People's Republic of Poland between 1955 and 1969 and then deputy chief of staff of the armed forces of the Warsaw Pact was.

Life

Studziński, who became a member of the Polish Workers 'Party PPR ( Polska Partia Robotnicza ) in 1945 and the Polish United Workers' Party PZPR (Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza) in 1948 , graduated from the Central School for Political Officers (Centralna Szkoła Oficerów Politycznych) in Warsaw between 1945 and 1949, as well as the Naval Officer School (Oficerska Szkoła Marynarki Wojennej) in Gdynia. Then he was first in command of the minesweeper ORP Mors and then from 1950 to 1952 as corvette captain in command of the destroyer ORP Błyskawica . He was then transferred to the main naval base in Gdynia in 1952, where he was initially deputy naval commander for general affairs.

In addition to his military career, he was elected member of the PZPR in 1952 and was a member of the Sejm for more than 19 years from the first to the end of the fifth legislative period on February 15, 1972.

On March 3, 1955 Studziński succeeded Soviet Rear Admiral Aleksander Dmitrijewitsch Vinogradow in command of the Polish Navy and held this position for 14 years until he was replaced by Ludwik Janczyszyn on November 19, 1969. During his studies at the Soviet Naval War Academy in Leningrad served as Rear Admiral Jan Wiśniewski from October 12, 1956 to September 8, 1958 as acting Commander of the Navy. During his time as Commander of the Navy, he was promoted to Rear Admiral and later Vice Admiral. He belonged to the generation of post-war officers who quickly took on positions of responsibility and was promoted to rear admiral in the shortest possible period of service and was also the youngest commander in the navy. During his tenure there were also various fleet exchange programs such as 1968 with the People's Navy of the GDR .

At the 4th party congress of the PZPR in 1964 he was also elected as a candidate for the Central Committee (ZK) and confirmed as such at the 5th party congress in 1968.

After completing his duties as Commander of the Navy, Studziński became Deputy Chief of Staff of the Warsaw Pact Armed Forces in 1969 and retained this position until his death.

After his sudden death at the age of only 53, he was buried in the Cmentarz Witomiński cemetery in Gdynia.

Orders and awards

During his long career, Studziński has been honored several times with domestic and foreign medals and awards. One of the most important honors is the order of Odrodzenia Polski , which he received as commander . In addition, he received the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland in silver (1947) and gold (1952). He received the Order of Lenin from the Soviet Union in 1968 at foreign medals .
