The United Emanuel colliery (formerly also United Emmanuel colliery ) is a former hard coal mine in the Gedern , Schwarze Siepen and Kohlensiepen district of Witten . The mine is the result of a consolidation with the Emanuel Erbstolln . The mine belonged to the Märkisches Bergamts district and there to the jury area Ostlich Witten .

Emanuel Erbstolln

The Emanuel Erbstolln was mentioned as early as 1738. On March 30, 1797 was carried presumption of Emanuel Erbstolln. In the same year, the excavation of the Erbstollen began. The tunnel mouth hole was set up east of the Wetterstrasse near the Wartenbergweg. After a few meters of driving, the driving was stopped and operations ceased. On February 22, 1831, the consolidation with the United Emanuel colliery took place.

United Emanuel

On September 6, 1830, the mining field Teutonia was mutated and in the following year it was consolidated with the Emanuel Erbstolln. On November 1, 1838, was carried out ceremony of the length field United Emanuel. Since the old assumption had lapsed on the Emanuel Erbstolln, a new assumption was made in 1842. On November 29, 1844, the hereditary tunnel was awarded . In November 1845 operations started again, the tunnel was driven eastwards, but only little coal production. In 1846 the old tunnel was driven further east.

On July 9, 1847, the length field Emanuel II was mutated, in the western continuation a bared seam was found in an old opencast mine . On December 27th of the same year the length field Emanuel II was awarded, after which the mining of coal began. The excavation took place up to a distance of 133 Lachter from the tunnel mouth hole. In 1848 a crosscut was driven south. In 1849 only alignment and exploration work was carried out because of the severely disturbed mountains . In the following year only very little coal production and in November the mining activity was stopped.

In 1852 prospecting work was carried out in the eastern part of the field . In 1855 the tunnel was opened further. In the summer of the following year, further excavation of the tunnel was postponed. In 1857 the tunneling was resumed, around 150 meters had been driven by the end of the year. By June 30, 1859, 138 puddles had been raised and operations were finally shut down in the second half of the same year. In 1960 the fairness of the tunnel was canceled by the responsible mining authority because the tunnel had meanwhile been broken . The Längenfeld Emanuel became part of the overlapping Geviertfelder Engelhardt and von Goeben.

Promotion and workforce

The first workforce figures date back to 1845, when three miners were employed in the mine . The first production figures come from the year 1848, with four miners 4867 bushels of hard coal were mined. In 1850, 3720 bushels of hard coal were mined. The last known workforce and production figures of the mine come from the year 1855, in that year 17 miners were employed at the mine, who produced 1240 Prussian tons of hard coal.
