The United Kassian colliery is a former hard coal mine in the Witten district of Vormholz . The mine was also known as the United Cassian Colliery . Despite its more than fifty year history, little is reported about the mine. The mine belonged to the Märkisches Bergamtsiertel and there to the jury area Hardenstein .

Mining history

A length field was awarded on November 23, 1831 . A field extension was awarded on October 26th of that year. The mine was in operation in 1850. It was a seam with a thickness from 16 to 19 inches in Verhieb . In 1855, that was mine field by the St. John Erbstollen solved . In the same year tonnlägige shaft Julius was promoting . The shaft had a flat depth of 65 Lachter and was a Pferdegöpel equipped. The shaft was used jointly with the Kurzes Ende colliery . In the years 1858 to 1860 the United Kassian colliery was still in operation independently. On May 20, 1862, below the bottom of the St. Johannes Erbstollen, the union became the United Bommerbänker Tiefbau colliery . In 1869 the mine was closed in time limits . In the course of 1875 the mine went out of service. After the mine was put back into operation in 1881 , the United Kassian colliery consolidated with other mines to form the United Gideon colliery.

Promotion and workforce

Only edible coals were extracted at the mine . The first known extraction figures come from 1865, when 853 tons of hard coal were extracted. In 1865, 465 tons of hard coal were extracted. The first known workforce figures come from the year 1872, at that time five miners were employed at the mine, who produced 487 tons of hard coal. In 1875, 148 tons of hard coal were mined. The last known production and workforce figures for the mine date from 1881, with seven miners producing 184 tons of hard coal.
