Zeitzeugen is a sampler from the independent label Horrorkore Entertainment . It was released on October 31, 2008 on the Berlin label. Contemporary witnesses will be presented by the two hip-hop musicians Basstard and DJ Korx. The focus of the album is on the rappers of the Basstard, Medizin Mann, Adden and Sheytan label. Stylistically, the sampler, like the Basstards albums , can be assigned to the hip-hop sub-genre of horror core .

Contemporary witnesses are used to present the horrorcore rappers with whom MC Basstard works. Originally, the release should appear as a mixtape . The four rappers would have rapped their lyrics on melodies and beats that were already featured on albums by American artists. Since some fans of the genre demanded a separate album, Horrorkore Entertainment decided to start an Internet survey about how to proceed. The majority of the fans chose a release with new instrumentals. Zeitzeugen was finally published on October 31, 2008 via Horrorkore Entertainment and Distributionz . The distribution was taken over by Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH .

A large part of contemporary witnesses was produced by DJ Korx. The Berliner has the beats of the pieces Intro , Who we are and Serial Killer as well as, in cooperation with Basstard, the title HKE comes and contributed advertising Skit . The producer duo High Hat is involved with five productions that can be assigned to the pieces Zeitzeugen , Der Nebel , Hör nicht auf mich , Beende nicht die Suche and Be Stark . Furthermore, were the title cycle of addiction by Jayo, The Saga lives of serial G and Noxuaco beats, your favorite horror movie of The Corner Lloyds and masked ball of gynecologist produced. FAK was involved in two songs through the Beats about Danger and Solar Eclipse . In addition, SDBY , who is an artist on the Hirntot Records label , provided the background music for the title At the End of the Tunnels and Barret Beats the beat for Baptism of Fire .
The audio post-processing, the so-called mastering , took place in the Silver Sound Studios .
Guest Posts
In addition to the artists of the Horrorkore Entertainment label , other rappers, most of whom also live in Berlin, are featured with guest posts on contemporary witnesses . For your favorite horror movie , Basstard and Medizin Mann worked with Kaisa and Skinny Al. At the beginning of 2008 Basstard had already released a joint album with Kaisa under the title 666 . A stanza is contributed by the rapper Blokkmonsta to the baptism of fire . He is the owner of the Berlin independent label Hirntot Records and is known for his splatter texts, which he himself assigns to the "Psychokore", a subgenre of the horror core. On masked ball , the rapper gynecologist and Manny Marc and Stark be MC Bogy to hear and Ozan. The gynecologist and MC Bogy have been friends of Basstards for many years and form the Bass Crew with them .
Furthermore, with Cardinal Blunt, the title Sonnenfinsternis was created and with Isar, the piece Do not end the search . The Berlin King Orgasmus One is represented with a verse in Listen to me . Similar to the gynecologist, orgasm with Basstard has been known for many years. Both rappers were members of the Bassboxxx label and King Orgasmus One was already involved several times on Basstar's debut album Rap Demon . The formation 4.9.0 Friedhof Chiller can also be heard on the sampler. The group from Osnabrück, made up of rappers Jayson, Schlafwandler and Sicc, was involved in the creation of the song Cycle of Addiction .

On the cover, the faces of the label's four rappers can be seen in a splintering mirror. For the booklet, photos were taken by the photographer Tamrock. The design of the artwork was done by COG Graphix.

On October 13th, the title An Halloween was published to announce the sampler . The piece, produced by Barret Beats and DJ Korx, was offered for free download . The text for On Halloween will be performed by Basstard, Adden and Medizin Mann.
criticism
The editors of the German hip-hop magazine Juice commented positively on contemporary witnesses in a review . Adden, who is regarded as the label's best newcomer due to the way she presents, Sheytan and Medizin Mann are praised for being “varied despite the limited range of topics”. Medicine Mann cannot keep up with Adden and Sheytan, whose texts are "even more terrifying" than Basstard's. The productions of the pieces are "of a gloomy nature" and fit the texts and the presentation method. Despite all this subgenre horror core and thus the sampler had witnesses "matter of taste".
A further evaluation was made by the website Rap4Fame.de. The editor Bazty gave the publication four out of five points. Right at the beginning, HKE comes up with "a bombastic introtrack". The versatility of the album is praised, whereas the guest contributions, for example by Kaisa and Skinny Al, are classified as unnecessary. As "highlights", in addition to HKE comes , the songs Zeitzeugen , Do not listen to me , baptism of fire and masked ball are named. The beats, which have a “dark atmosphere”, are also varied.
