Daoud Nassar (* 18th October 1970 in Beit Dschala , Palestine ) is a Palestinian , Evangelical Lutherans and founder and director of the private peace project "Tent of Nations" ( "Tent of Nations" ) southwest of Bethlehem .

Life

Nassar is the second youngest child of the Palestinian Bishara Nassar († 1976). In the spirit of his father, he runs the Christian-motivated project “Tent of the Nations” with his family on their own land, nine kilometers southwest of Bethlehem in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian area of ​​the West Bank , surrounded by Israeli settlers . At the same time, the family has since 1991 represented their property rights , evidenced by Ottoman , British , Jordanian and Israeli documents, to their property, which has been harassed by the Israeli settlers, before Israeli courts in the hope of "peace in justice". The 42-hectare vineyard was bought by Nassar's grandfather, the Christian Arab Hence Nassar , who immigrated from Lebanon with his family in 1916.

Nassar spent his youth in Bethlehem. He graduated from high school in 1989 at the Evangelical Lutheran School Talitha Kumi in Beit Jala. Because of his teacher's personal contacts with the Schloss Klaus Bible School in Upper Austria , he attended the school and graduated from the Austrian Matura in Kirchdorf an der Krems in 1991 . He then returned to Palestine, studied business administration at the University of Bethlehem and graduated with a master's degree . After his first professional years in Bethlehem, he came to Germany and completed a postgraduate course in "International Tourism Management" at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences in 1997/1998 .

Since his school days, Nassar has been involved in youth work and has worked on various exchange programs. He was the coordinator of the Swedish project “Youth Action Plan for Human Rights” in Bethlehem. Professionally, he worked for several years in the field of tourism in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. Since September 2000 he has been the head of the “Tent of the Nations” project, organizing youth meetings on his land and traveling the world to lectures and fundraising.

Nassar is married to computer science teacher Jihan Hawwash . The couple has three children.

Project "tent of the peoples"

The "Tent of Nations" is a leisure and meeting center, mainly for young people, to promote understanding and peace between people from different countries and cultures. Under the legal sponsorship of the "Bethlehem Bible College", the Palestinian project leaders, Daoud Nassar and a patronage committee , have been setting up the meeting camp since 2000, which is supported by groups of friends all over the world.

Since then u. a. a group of around 30 Christian-Arab young people between the ages of 16 and 30 from the villages of Bethlehem, Beit Sahur and Bait Jala are cared for. Another goal is to get in contact with Muslim youth. This is achieved through meetings with other organizations and sports activities. The entire group meets with Daoud Nassar once a week. In addition, u. a. Arranged three to four holiday stays for young people from Europe every year. Through a partner organization, some German young people also complete their voluntary social year on “Dahers Weinberg”.
