Zenith Komarniski (* 13. August 1978 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player , who during his playing career 1993-2006 among others for the Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League on the position of the defender has played .
Career
Komarniski played in the Western Hockey League during his junior years . First from the fall of 1994 for the Tri-City Americans and after a transfer deal shortly after the start of the 1997/98 season for the Spokane Chiefs . In the 1996 NHL Entry Draft , the defender was selected in the third round in 75th place by the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League .
Komarniski then switched to the organization of the Canucks in the summer of 1998. They used him for the entire season in their farm team , the Syracuse Crunch , in the American Hockey League . During the 1999/2000 season , the Canadian made his NHL debut after several injuries in the Canucks' regular squad. With two scorer points in 18 encounters, Komarniski could not recommend himself sustainably, so he continued to stay with the Crunch in the AHL. The 2000/01 season spent the defender with the Kansas City Blades in the International Hockey League , another Canucks farm team. He then worked for the Manitoba Moose - also in cooperation with the Vancouver Canucks - in the AHL until October 2003 , before Vancouver gave it to Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Sean Pronger .
Even with the Blue Jackets, the defensive player could not prevail and found himself again in the AHL, where he ran up again in the Syracuse Crunch until summer 2005. As a free agent , Komarniski joined the Calgary Flames in August 2005 , who used him in his final professional season with the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in the AHL.
International
Komarniski represented his home country at the 1998 Junior World Cup , where he finished eighth with the team.
