Zhang Lan (born October 18, 1990 ) is a Chinese wrestler . In 2010 she became vice world champion in the weight class up to 59 kg body weight.

Career

Zhang Lan started wrestling in 2003 as a teenager. The student is a member of the Shanxi Wrestling Club . Her trainer has been Li Chonsheng since 2003. The 1.60 meter tall athlete rings in the weight class up to 59 kg, but has recently been training at international championships in the weight class up to 55 kg.

It first appeared on the international wrestling mat in 2009, when it won a World Cup tournament in the weight class up to 59 kg in Taiyuan / China, ahead of Katrie Patroch from Canada and Deanna Rix from the United States . In 2010 she became Junior World Champion in Budapest in the same weight class. Along the way, she defeated Sorondsonboldyn Battsetseg from Mongolia , Tatjana Padilla from the United States, Kanako Murata from Japan and Valeria Scholobowa from Russia .

In the same year she also took part in the Women's World Cup in Moscow , where she won over Alena Filipowa from Belarus , Johanna Mattsson from Sweden and Kelsey Campbell from the United States. She was in the final against Sorondsonboldyn Battsetseg, which she had shouldered shortly before at the Junior World Championship. Sorondsonboldyn Battsetseg took revenge for this defeat and defeated Zhang Lan on points. She became vice world champion. In October 2010, Zhang Lan also started at the Asian Games in Guangzhou . To do this, she trained in the weight class up to 55 kg. She also reached the final there, in which she lost to the Olympic and multiple world champion Saori Yoshida from Japan.

In 2011 Zhang Lan was used again in the weight class up to 55 kg at the World Championships in Istanbul . She won there over Marcia Yuleisei Andrades Mendoza from Venezuela , but was then somewhat surprisingly defeated by the Indian Geeta quite clearly on points (0: 2 rounds, 0: 6 points), so she was eliminated and only reached 21st place.

In April 2012 she took part in an Olympic qualification tournament in Taiyuan . In the weight class up to 55 kg she achieved 3rd place behind Han Kum-Ok from North Korea and Sündewiin Bjambatseren from Mongolia, which is not enough for a start in London. She then compensated for this failure at the World Championship in Strathcona / Canada, which was held in addition to the Olympic Games, because there she won the world championship title in the weight class up to 59 kg, ahead of Salina Sidakowa , Belarus, Olga Butkewitsch , Great Britain and Tungalagiin Mönchtujaa , Mongolia.
