The goat mountain is 315.7  m above sea level. NN high elevation in the northern Harz foreland near Heimburg in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Ziegenberg is located directly north of the Harz low mountain range in the northern Harz foreland in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It rises between the Heimburg district of Blankenburg in the east and the Benzingerode district of Wernigerode in the northwest. To the north its landscape falls into the actual Harz foreland, to the northeast it leads over to the 280.9  m high hilltop of Heimburg Castle and to the south and southwest the Harz rises. The survey is located in the 88.4 hectare nature reserve Ziegenberg near Heimburg .

Opportunities for viewing and hiking

From the elongated Ziegenberg, as from the neighboring Struvenberg to the northwest , there is a panoramic view of the Harz, the Harz foreland, the Huy and the Regenstein with Regenstein Castle . A hiking trail runs over the ridges of both elevations between Heimburg and Benzingerode.
