The Struvenberg is 305.7 m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the northern Harz foreland near Benzingerode in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ).
Geographical location
The Struvenberg is located directly north of the Harz low mountain range in the northern Harz foreland in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt nature park . It rises between the Wernigerode district of Benzingerode in the west and the Blankenburg district of Heimburg in the east-southeast. To the north and northeast, its landscape falls into the actual Harz foreland, while the Harz rises to the south and southwest. The Holtemme tributary Hellbach flows past to the west and north ; the Austberg rises west of the brook . The survey is located in the 88.4 hectare nature reserve Ziegenberg near Heimburg .
Struvenburg
On the western part of the Struvenberg there used to be the Struvenburg , a medieval castle complex , of which today only a few earth walls are evidence and is little known.
Opportunities for viewing and hiking
From the elongated Struvenberg, as from the neighboring Ziegenberg to the southeast , there is a panoramic view of the Harz, the Harz foreland, the Huy and the Regenstein with Regenstein Castle . A hiking trail runs over the ridges of both elevations between Benzingerode and Heimburg. The Struvenberg was included as No. 83 in the system of stamping points of the Harz hiking pin. The stamp box ( ⊙ ) was located in the transition area to the Ziegenberg next to the information board for the nature reserve Ziegenberg near Heimburg .
