Zirkus Zeitgeist is the fourteenth album by Saltatio Mortis and the eighth on which they play medieval rock . It was released on August 14, 2015 and entered the German album charts at number 1. On November 27, 2015, an acoustic version of the album was released under the name Zirkus Zeitgeist - Without Power and Plug , and the live album Zirkus Zeitgeist - Live from Great Freedom was released on April 1, 2016 .

The socially critical texts on Zirkus Zeitgeist were received very well, but it was criticized that the Middle Ages aspect in the music was pushed into the background.

Behind punk rock, pepped up with accented medieval gimmicks, there are texts that unmistakably name things. It's about a society that increasingly looks the other way when suffering and pain spreads on its own doorstep. Regardless of whether they are politicians, church officials or bankers: they all get their fat off on 'Zirkus Zeitgeist'. And that musically fired up with a catchy blend of old and new. "
“In terms of quality, 'Zirkus Zeitgeist' is in no way inferior to its predecessor - that much must be anticipated. The songs are all very catchy and danceable, but do not fail to leave a lasting impression with their pithy corners and edges, or optionally with the odd medieval charm. "
