The Zirmbach is a nearly 10 km long brook in the Sellraintal in Tyrol , Austria .

course

The Zirmbach arises east below the Kühtai saddle at an altitude of 1830  m above sea level. A. from the confluence of the Stockacher Bach (also: Stockachbach) and Klammbach in the municipality of Stams . The Stockacher Bach rises on the eastern outskirts of Kühtai ( 47 ° 12 '55 "  N , 11 ° 1' 34"  E ) at an altitude of 2015  m above sea level. A. and has a length of 2.9 km. The 2.5 km long Klammbach has its origin in a small side below the Mitter pointer Kogels ( 47 ° 14 '18 "  N , 11 ° 2' 34"  O ) in an altitude of 2267  m above sea level. A.

The Zirmbach flows approximately in the easterly direction by the upper Sellraintal, passes the Zirmbachalm, Haggen, St. Sigmund in Sellrain and opening not far from the village of Gries in Sellrain in the from the Lüsenstal  coming Melach . The most important feeders are the Kraspesbach near Haggen and the Gleirschbach near St. Sigmund, both of which flow from the right. The Sellraintalstraße (L13) runs largely parallel to the Zirmbach and crosses it several times.

Catchment area and water supply

The natural catchment area of the Zirmbach is almost 70 km² and is therefore roughly the same size as that of the Melach up to its confluence. Around 2.2 km² or 3% of the catchment area is glaciated. The highest point in the catchment area is the Gleirscher Fernerkogel  at 3,189  m above sea level. A. Several tributaries of the Zirmbach are diverted into the Längental reservoir of the Sellrain-Silz power plant , reducing the effective catchment area by 31 km².

The Zirmbach has a similar flow regime , the lowest water level is measured in the winter months, the highest when the snow melts in late spring.

Surname

The name of the brook refers to the stone pines that are common in Sellrain .
