Zoltán Béres

Zoltán Béres (born January 1968 in Nyírbátor ) is a Hungarian boxer. He won an Olympic bronze light heavyweight medal in 1992.

Amateur career

Béres won five Hungarian championships and the bronze medal in the light heavyweight division at the 25th Olympic Games in Barcelona . He defeated Paolo Mwaselle from Tanzania 30:13, Asghar Muhammad from Pakistan by breaking off in the first round and Roland Raforme from the Seychelles 11: 3. In the semifinals he was finally defeated by Rostislaw Saulitschni from the Soviet Union by breaking off in the third round and thus reached 3rd place.

He also took part in the 1986 European Junior Championships in Copenhagen , the 1993 World Championships in Tampere , the 1994 World Cup in Bangkok and the 1996 European Championships in Vejle , without however reaching the medal ranks.

Professional career

In 1998 he moved to the professional camp and lost in August 1999 on points to Fırat Arslan , but in May 2001 he defeated Ahmet Öner . In September 2001 he lost to Jackson Chanet , in April 2003 to Tomasz Adamek and in March 2006 to Pietro Aurino . In July 2006 he lost prematurely to Alexander Alexejew , further defeats followed in December 2006 against Mariusz Wach and in February 2007 against Sebastian Köber . In February 2016 his professional record was 44 wins, 52 losses and three draws.
