action

Denise and Danny Zanders are happy, the newly wed couple is spending their honeymoon in an idyllic vacation home on the beach in New Jersey , where they enjoy the good times in life. However, the young happiness does not last long when Danny is suddenly attacked during a trip to the beach by a mysterious stranger who previously emerged from the roaring waves of the sea. The stranger vomits a blackish liquid on Danny's face and then dies. The victim then loses consciousness, but thanks to the courageous intervention of her partner, she is immediately taken to a hospital. Despite immediate resuscitation attempts , the groom's heart fails, and the doctors confirm Danny's tragic death. Ten minutes later, the man who was believed dead awakens to new life in front of the mourning companion and the clinic staff present. Denise is delighted, she can hardly believe her luck.

After a short follow-up treatment, the healthy, but strangely changed Danny - at first he has barely visibly mutated into a zombie - is released from the hospital to the familiar honeymoon home. The undead , whose threatening transformation is only slowly being announced, is becoming increasingly aggressive. Nevertheless, the two go through a brief phase of happiness again until the thoughtful wife notices changes in her lover. The convinced vegetarian feels an insatiable greed for blood and human flesh! When Danny one day is caught by his young bride feeding on a dead jogger in the bathtub, the shocked beauty flees from the scene. The wife gets into a conflict of conscience, vacillates between love and reason, between helping and getting help.

Despite revulsion and disgust for her husband's bizarre "preferences", she tries to come to terms with her spouse. Dealing with the cannibalistic tendencies of her husband and wife turns out to be extremely difficult, because Dannys cannot control his desires despite tireless expressions of love. The urge to kill and eat is just so strong that it requires a daily ration of meat. This kills several people, including a few passers-by whom Danny attacks on the street. However, his victims do not turn into zombies themselves, they only serve as food. In the further course of the plot, the condition of the living dead deteriorates rapidly, he can almost no longer be tamed.

The police in the form of Officer Carp finally become aware of the killer. At this point at the latest, the devoted Denise gives up her past life completely and takes care of Danny, who is now also externally neglected. The situation escalates. The living dead falls on a couple of friends and on summoned police units and triggers a cruel bloodbath. In tears, Denise tries to escape from her husband, whom she once swore to stand by in good times as well as in bad. Danny is about to die, the black infection determines his actions from then on. Driven by instinct, he goes in search of a new host , whom he thinks he has found in his wife. In a last effort of strength he manages to suppress his greed, to protect Denise and not to infect her, a few seconds later Danny blesses the temporal. At the end of the film, the grieving widow decides to embark on a long-awaited trip to Portugal.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "an absurdly bloody mixture of zombie film, horror comedy and love story in a semi-professional production."
