Zuhair Bakheet Bilal ( Arabic زهير بخيت بلال, DMG Zuhair Baḫīt Bilāl ; * July 13, 1967 in Dubai ) is a former soccer player from the United Arab Emirates . The 112-time national player was part of the squad for the United Arab Emirates' only World Cup participation in 1990.

Career

He played only with al-Wasl in his entire career from 1986 to 2004 . In his first season 1986/97 he won the UAE President's Cup with his club . He was also champion with his team in the 1987/88, 1991/92, 1996/97 seasons. In the 1992/93 season, the UAE FA Cup could also be won.

National team

His first international match was a 3-0 defeat against Bulgaria in Doha . At the Asian Cup in Qatar in 1988 he was used in two group stage games. In the group of five, the team finished fourth and did not qualify for the rest of the tournament. He was also in the squad of the team that took second place at the 1988 Golf Cup in Saudi Arabia. At the 1990 World Cup in Italy , he was used in a group D group game. The team was eliminated in the preliminary round with three defeats as bottom group. In the 1990 Golf Cup , the team was also bottom of the table with him and only 4 points at the end.

At the Asian Cup in Japan in 1992, he was used in three group stage games. This time the team advanced thanks to the same group result as Japan. In the semifinals, however, they failed to Saudi Arabia . The game for third place was then lost on penalties against China . In the same year he finished with his team in the golf cup a middle place in the table. At the domestic golf cup in 1994 he could not celebrate a single win in the games in which he was used. However, this was lost to Saudi Arabia on penalties. The 1996 Golf Cup in Oman was the last one he took part in. But even here there was only one lower place in the table at the end. His last international match was against Egypt in Abu Dhabi on December 16, 2002 ; the game ended in a 2-1 win for his team. At the end of his international career, he should have played 112 games and scored 37 goals.
