action

The veterinarian and biologist Dr. Peter Holmes complied with a request from Professor Roberts from the International Science Conference in Geneva to make his beloved dog, which he called "wolf" available, for a space project that would prepare the first manned flight to the moon. Wolf should be shot into space no less than for scientific experiments. Now Holmes painfully remembers (in a long flashback) his time together with his beloved, four-legged "foundling". Once Dr. Holmes raised and raised the little wolfhound pup in the wild. In the meantime, the animal was lost in a fall in a torrent, but was rescued and, after a few more adventures, returned safely to its master.

Back in the present, the space capsule dips back into the earth's atmosphere and lands somewhere in the middle of nowhere, in the inaccessible arctic region north of the Arctic Circle. The NASA does not consider itself able to send off a rescue mission, and so grabs Dr. Holmes his bundle, buckles on his cross-country skis, saddles his reindeer and, determined to save "Wolf" a second time, sets off for the tundra. Deep in the snow and ice, an excited wolfhound suddenly approaches him and leads him to a Lappin named Ara who has broken into the ice. Peter saves the young woman and finds out that it was the macaw who once saved the little "wolf" from the raging river. In this wasteland, Ara lends a hand to her father, who runs a local weather station that supplies important meteorological data for the polar flight route.

Peter and Ara get closer together, which promptly leads to a new conflict. Because Ara is actually connected to the woodcutter Johan, and everyone is expecting that the two will get married soon. The vigorous country man doesn't like that Peter seems to get in the way of his love for Ara. But Peter tries to integrate them into her life and the folk customs beyond the Arctic Circle. However, Peter Holmes does not plan to stay in this freezing cold any longer than necessary. Although "Wolfs" is the new owner, Ara lets the wolfhound go with Peter. But before that, Johan wants to prove himself to his loved one as a "whole man" and challenges the hated intruder. There is a boxing match in which Johan first uses unfair means and then uses his knife. "Wolf" now shows his loyalty to his master Peter and attacks the attacker. Now dog and owner have finally come together again.

Reviews

The film service says: "The curious plot is the only remarkable thing in an otherwise sentimental and banal home film with a love story."
