Reviews

Two families on the palm were received mostly positively by the criticism:

Film critic Tilmann P. Gangloff found the film to be a “harmlessly cheerful comedy”, in which the development of the story was not particularly surprising, “especially since the characters correspond to the customary clichés”. Director Niessner “hardly sets any accents”, nor did Holly Fink's visual design. "Timothy Tremper's script also has only a few surprises to offer, especially since even the characters' change in character corresponds to expectations." Nevertheless, the film would be “astonishingly varied”.

According to Der Westen, the story "is told quickly from the start and never gets lost in the postcard beauty". Andi Niessner staged “the Robinsonade inconspicuously”, Timothy Tremper's script doesn't afford to hang around, but above all it is the actors who carry this nice comedy. The film is "never boring", "nothing stunning, but still more than a comedy in a dream setting".
