The two-line mackerel ( Grammatorcynus bilineatus ) is a predatory fish up to 1 meter long and 3.5 kilograms in weight. The fish is often confused with the second species of the genus, Grammatorcynus bicarinatus .
features
The mouth of the two-line mackerel is relatively small, the crack in the mouth only extends to the middle of the eye. A swim bladder is available. It gets its German name from the second side line , which branches off at right angles from the first behind the pectoral fins.

Distribution and way of life
The two-line mackerel lives in the open water over outer reefs in the Indian Ocean from the Red Sea to the Andaman Sea and in the western Pacific to the Ryūkyū Islands , the north coast of Australia , the Marshall Islands and Fiji .
They hunt in large schools over steep outer reefs for crustaceans and herring-like schooling fish such as Sardinella and Thrissocles .
