occupation

Dwarf Nose is a German fairy tale film from 1978 . It is based on Wilhelm Hauff's art fairy tale The Dwarf Nose .

action

The original by Wilhelm Hauff was supplemented with some elements from the Grimm fairy tale Jorinde and Joringel .

A twelve-year-old boy -Jakob- helped his mother sell vegetables at the market. He often carried the things customers bought to their homes. An ancient woman bought six heads of cabbage; Young Jakob cursed the woman's strange behavior, but nevertheless carried the cabbage he had bought to her home. There he is transformed into a dwarf with a long nose and has to be of service to her. He is trained as a master chef. Years later he returns to his parents in his dwarf form, but they do not recognize him and chase him away.

Because of the culinary art he had learned, he was employed by the Duke's court. Jakob later met a talking goose (Mimi) who, like him, was enchanted by the ancient woman. When the prince came to visit the duke, Jakob had to prove his culinary skills. In the recipe for a pie there was a herb that he didn't know was missing. With the help of the goose he was able to find the herb that had bewitched him and was able to transform it back again.

As a beautiful man, Jakob was able to bring the enchanted goose Mimi back to her father, who transformed her back again.
