Zyklon was a Norwegian death metal band from Notodden . According to their own statement, the band name alludes to the natural phenomenon Zyklon , and not to the poison gas Zyklon B used in the Holocaust ; however, the natural phenomenon cyclone is written in Norwegian syklon . Rather, the name is based on the "mighty natural forces". The band emphasizes that this is not a continuation of Zyklon-B , an earlier project of their guitarist.

history

Guitarist Tomas Thormodsæter Haugen (also known as Zamoth or Samoth ) founded Zyklon in 1998. Together with Odd "Secthdamon" Tony (vocals, bass), Thor "Destructhor" Anders Myhren ( Myrkskog , guitar) and Kai Johnny "Trym" Mosaker ( Emperor , Drums) he recorded the album World ov Worms (2001). Former Emperor drummer Bård “Faust” Eithun wrote the lyrics. Guests on the album are Daemon ( Limbonic Art ), Kristoffer “Trickster G” Rygg ( Ulver ) and the American fetish model “Persephone” as the singer . In the same year the band played at the Milwaukee Metal Fest .

In 2003 a split single with Red Harvest was released , followed by the second album Aeon 2004. This album also features guests again: Ocd ( Void ) and Ofu Khan (Red Harvest), parts of the lyrics are again by Eithun. In Japan the group plays a few concerts with Dark Funeral .

In 2006 the third album Disintegrate was released .

On September 28, 2007, Zyklon played their last concert in Tokyo, Japan. From then on the band paused. In January 2010, the dissolution of the band was announced on the official website. The members will continue to be active in other projects.

Music style and lyrics

The group plays death metal with black metal influences. These were particularly represented on the first album, so that the band was initially perceived as Black Metal. In addition, Samoth and Trym previously played together in the black metal band Emperor . The texts are mostly anti- religious and misanthropic . They were written on the first two albums by Bård G. Eithun .
