Revision as of 05:12, 3 February 2008

Almost every article in Wikipedia could do with some expansion - the aim of Wikipedia is to have every article at featured status. This page is for listing those articles of any length for which there is a specific request or longer (non-stub) articles which are still embarrassingly short or insufficient for an encyclopedia of the stature to which Wikipedia aspires.

Articles to list here:

  • Stubs - Articles that are very short. These should be tagged with {{stub}}, or a topic-specific stub tag. Since stubs by definition are tagged as being too short for their subject, the use of the {{expand}} tag on stubs should always be accompanied by a detailed explanation of what needs to be done.
  • Longer articles that still need expansion. Be sure to tag these {{expand}} when you nominate them.
  • Sections in particular need of expansion within an article may be tagged with {{expandsection}} or {{Sectstub}}.

Articles not to list here:

How to add a new listing

Please list entries chronologically (newest at top) and add {{expand}} to the article page, with a note about what needs to be expanded. On this page, be sure to sign your post with ~~~~ so the date will be included. Please also bold the title of the article you are adding, to make the list easier to read.

Instead of using {{expand}}, you may instead choose to add an item to an article's todo list, located on the talk page. Add the {{todo}} template to the top of the article's talk page, and then fill out the /todo subpage explaining what needs to be added.

Cleanup needed

Please help remove listings which have already been expanded. To determine this, you can check the article's history tab. Compare the length of the article from when the request was posted here to its current length. If there was a request for expansion of a particular point, see if this was done.

Articles that have been expanded should have the {{expand}} tag removed from the talk page.

In order to prevent this page from getting too long, requests older than six months should be removed from this page entirely. When doing so, please move the comment accompanying the request from this page to the article's talk page, and make sure it is tagged {{expand}}. This ensures that the article will continue to be featured on the opentask list and Category:Articles to be expanded until it is eventually expanded.

Urgent

For the most urgently needed article expansions, it may make sense in addition to listing the article here to find the project page of an appropriate Wikipedia:WikiProject or ask for help from a particular editor who has made contributions in that field before.

2008

Please place new requests at the top of the appropriate list and make the article link bold. Please remember to sign with four tildes (~~~~).

  • Back to You - Expansion of the section "International Broadcasters" is required. -- Guest User, 16:10, 3 February 2008 (AEDST)

January

  • Okinawan family name - Please review and check grammer. --Eurodollers (talk) 12:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Garrick Club - Apparently, the Garrick Club in London, England is a highly noted and famous gent's club. I originally nominated the article for deletion because – if you read it with no prior knowledge of the subject – it looks very un-notable... almost like it was written by a businessowner that wanted to put himself in Wikipedia. My AfD request met fierce opposition, though. Total rewrite is requested, or at least some major, major editing. The article lists the club's website as the only source, it is written in British slang, and says nothing of what is supposedly an illustrious history filled with famous members. Timdlocklear (talk) 00:31, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • List of Barrow built ships - Notable Launchers - The section 'Notables to Launch Vessles' needs expanding as it only lists four people, many many more ships and submarines have been launched in the town, with a lot of these being by famous people. If anyone knows any more people who have launched ships in the town (from royal family to whatever), please feel free to edit - Stevvvv4444 (Talk) 19:18, 40 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hague Conventions (1899 and 1907) - Needs a list of signatories, heads of state and plenipotentiaries, not to mention some historical context and commentary about its breaches. - OwenBlacker (Talk) 01:39, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Country Weekly - The biggest country music magazine out there. This mag's been around nearly a decade and a half, I'm sure there's more to say about it than just what's in this two paragraph stub. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 19:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Anti-discrimination law - This should be a good overview article with links to individual countries/types, but it's currently a stub with a few random links. --Alynna (talk) 16:41, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Willie Fung - Chinese actor. Very short one-sentence article, would benefit from additional information about biography, filmography, etc. Truthanado (talk) 02:56, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nada the Lily - (Novel by H. Rider Haggard) I just created this page and it is still a stub. Needs expansion by s/o with an in-depth knowledge of the book. Applebizzy (talk) 19:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Gibbons v. Ogden - The article fails to provide sufficient information to the reader for such a landmark supreme court decision. Georgequizbowl08 (talk) 19:49, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Topi - Make this one more like the Greater Kudo article. Bobisbob (talk) 00:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Arabian Oryx - If the Greater Kudu and the Bongo get good sized articles them so should this animal. More information on social behavior would be nice. Bobisbob (talk) 00:55, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Impala - Needs more detailed info on social structure Bobisbob (talk) 00:42, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Doug Supernaw - I just rewrote the article from scratch, and took care of some passages which once had {{fact}} tags, but I've barely begun to scratch the surface here. The article could use some more information on his musical career, as well as on his long string of personal arrests. Although I'm usually pretty good at rewriting country music articles by myself, I think this is a tricky one that could use a few extra sets of hands. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 20:37, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • History of the Jews in Europe - Shockingingly inadequate article; currently only a list of links to individual countries' articles on Jewish history. Europe taken as a whole has a vast and rich Jewish history, not to mention the holocaust. We must do better here. Grunners (talk) 19:05, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Homeland Security Advisory Council - Extremely poor article, some misinformation, and is basically a list of names. -- Stepshep (talk) 01:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sino-Japanese Journalist Exchange Agreement - Needs review, correction and expansion.--Eurodollers (talk) 01:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Generation Jones - Terribly short for a generational article when compared to 'baby boomers'. Also, the references need to be formatted. 24.32.208.58 (talk) 19:53, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • black caiman - There really is not much in EVERY section of it. Footballfan190 (talk) 06:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Irena Górska-Damięcka - Quite new, only created (by me) following her death. Only the biography section needs to be expanded. Which should take up most of the article. :) Editorofthewiki (talk) 19:09, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. local time outside the town of Tossiat, near Bourg-en-Bresse, eastern France Dec. 19th., leaving 1 man dead and 35 injured. Search "tgv" in google news for more details of the incident.

  • Wikipedia:Truth in Numbers: The Wikipedia StoryThis 'article' is the result of some effort by me and a few other wikipedians. However, mainly due to the fact that we are unable to get more reliable sources we are forced to keep it on the project page. I'd appreciate any help. U5K0 00:59, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ubuntu (Linux distribution), article can turn much better explaining resources (search, office, email management) is actually too specific and superficial documented. --201.79.94.80 14:19, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
