Ecology and health issues

In July of 2007 there was found as Russians officials said atypical pneumonia virus Legionella_pneumophila (RSOE Emergency and Disaster Information Service number EH-20070731-12641-RUS Epidemic Hazard 110 persons infected). There was much rumors in mass media because there may be some biological walfare background (military test site near the city) much like incident in 1979 in Compound 19 in Yekaterinburg. But unofficially in local Internet forums people tell about splash from chemical production line and chemically induced pneumonia[citation needed]

. Russian officials much like as it was in soviet times silently ignore and do desinformation about severe health problems for about 165 persons from 25 July till 3 August with 5 dead [citation needed]

.

Also serious ecological issues due to severe environment pollution [citation needed]

.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the town is a gryphon holdglu gold "mirror of Venus". The gryphon is the guard of riches and also the strength of mind. The "mirror of Venus" is the sign of copper, which is being mined in the region.
