Nischnije Sergi ( Russian: Нижние Серги ) is a city in Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 10,336 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The city is located on the western flank of the Middle Urals , about 120 km southwest of the oblast capital Yekaterinburg on the Serga , a right tributary of the Ufa in the river system of the Kama .

Nizhny Sergi is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .

The city is located on the railway line Kalino (near Tschussowoi ) - Kusino - Berdjausch , the former West-Ural Railway ( Западно-Уральская железная дорога / Sapadno-Uralskaja schelesnaja doroga) , opened in 1916 . The city's station is called Nizhneserginskaya .

history

Nizhniye Sergi was created in 1743 in connection with the construction of ironworks Nischneserginski Zavod ( Lower Serga plant , to distinguish it from the Upper Serga plant , Werchneserginski Zavod , today urban-type settlement Werchnije Sergi ) and received 1943 city law. The term Serga in the means Komi about Marder -flow .

Culture and sights

Nizhny Sergi is one of the oldest balneological health resorts in the Urals. The healing waters of the place have been known since the first half of the 18th century and have been used since 1830.

Various natural beauties can be found in the vicinity of the place (mountains, the Druzhba cave , oak forests).

In Nizhnye Sergi there are metal goods, drilling and agricultural equipment factories as well as the timber industry.
