Headstrong is the debut album by Ashley Tisdale star from High School Musical and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. The album was released on February 6, 2007 in the United States via Warner Bros Records. Album information
On February 6, 2007 the album debuted at number 5 in the Billboard 200, Canada and number 14 in the United World Chart albums for 64,000 copies. Then the album went down in the lists for the scanty promotion on behalf of Ashley since there were rolling the second part of High School Musical called High School Musical 2. On September 17, 2007 He Said She Said was re-released, the song turned radial success and with his music video it also managed to increase the sales of the album in United States, Latin America and Europe. At October 2007 Oye! Awards (Premios Oye! in Spanish) released in Mexico nominated the album in the category International Breakthrough Artist of 2007 for the debut album Headstrong. The album was #6 on "Album of The Year" by Billboard Readers' Magazine Choice.
Critical Reception
Headstrong has generated some negative and some positive reviews, receiving a 3/5 on the website All Music Guide.[2] Stating: "Attempting to give Tisdale an identity outside of High School Musical, Headstrong's sound is much more mature than the soundtrack's teen pop-meets-musicals vibe, incorporating heavy hip-hop beats, dancehall's call-and-response, Middle Eastern elements, and other mid-2000s pop music trends into the Disney pop sound."
Promotion
Tisdale did little promotion on the album. Performances on ABC's Good Morning America on February 6 and October 19, on February 7 on Live with Regis and Kelly. The music video for He Said She Said promoted Eckō Red, for a shoe commercial. On October 2007, Tisdale started her first tour called Headstrong Tour Across America for different malls of the United States. The song Headstrong is featured in a Degree Girl commercial. The album will be released again on June 6, 2008, only in Germany in a Deluxe Edition. The CD contains all the 14 tracks from original album and the DVD contains There's Something About Ashley, with the three music videos and the documentary. Also, a pink cover will be used.
