Samantha Jade Gibbs (born April 18, 1987 in Perth , Western Australia ) is an Australian singer and actress . She became known in 2012 as the winner of the fourth season of The X Factor .

life and career

Samantha Jade Gibbs was born in 1987 in Perth as the first child of Kevin and Jacquie Gibbs. She has two younger brothers. At the age of four she began a career as a child model. When she was nine, she won her first talent show singing Amazing Grace .

In 2002 she sent a first demo to record producers in the USA. In 2003 she moved with her family to Los Angeles and shortly thereafter received a recording contract with the Jive Records label . She co-wrote the JoJo song Secret Love , which appeared on the 2004 soundtrack for the movie Big Sharks . In 2006 she contributed a song to the dance film Step Up . In 2007 the follow-up single Turn Around was released . She then worked on the album My Name is Samantha Jade for several years , but it was never released due to various problems. After her contract with Jive Records was terminated, she first moved to Affinity West Entertainment. The album Golden Touch recorded there , however, should not appear until 2012.

In 2010 she made her acting debut in the film Beneath the Blue . In the same year she moved back to Australia. With David Guetta and Laidback Luke she recorded a track for Guetta's album One Love , which was not included on the final album, but was included as a bonus track on various international re-releases.

In 2012, she applied for the fourth season of The X Factor , which she finally won in November 2012. She received a recording deal with Sony Music Australia. Her single What You've Done to Me reached number 1 on the Australian charts. Her self-titled debut album was released in December 2012. The follow-up single Firestarter reached number 9 in the Australian charts in July 2013.

In January 2014 Jade released a cover version of I Am Australian with Dami Im , Jessica Mauboy , Justice Crew , Nathaniel Willemse and Taylor Henderson . In the television series Never Tear Us Apart: The Untold Story of INXS , she took on the role of Kylie Minogue ,
