(11583) Breuer is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 12 August 1994 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named on May 23, 2000 after the Austrian doctor , physiologist and psychiatrist Josef Breuer (1842–1925), who, alongside Sigmund Freud, is one of the founders of psychoanalysis .
