(13254) Kekulé is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 26 July 1998 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid was named on July 26, 2010 after the German chemist August Kekulé (1829–1896), who laid the foundations for the modern structural theory of organic chemistry .
